十二岁的法国男孩皮埃罗（Patrick de Bardine 饰）和妹妹尼克尔（Sylviane Rozenberg 饰）在偶然之中得到了一支从中国远渡重洋漂泊而来的风筝，两人和他们的小伙伴们将这支风筝视为珍宝。在一家古董店里，皮埃罗得知风筝上的形象名叫孙悟空。并且发现了风筝上拴着的信是来自一个名叫宋小清的中国男孩。 　　皮埃罗十分想和宋小清成为朋友，但是倍博特（Gérard Szymanski 饰）却抢走了写有宋小清地址的信件。焦急万分的皮埃罗于是向孙悟空祈愿，哪知道孙悟空竟然从风筝上活生生的走了下来，不仅如此，它还满足了皮埃罗的愿望，将皮埃罗和尼克尔送到了中国。兄妹两人在这个神秘的东方古国里展开了一段奇幻冒险。
