影片发生在1905年，一艘名为波将金号的战舰上，原本这是一艘沙皇海军的骄傲，可是因为连续数月的伙食太差，导致了一场哗变。沙皇海军波将金号战舰上，水兵的生活环境非常差，受着非人的待遇。一连数月，水兵的伙食很差，供应的牛肉甚至长满了蛆，引起了战舰上水兵们的极度不满。部分水兵策动起义，却受到了军官的镇压。指挥官下令枪杀叛乱者，但是由于起义之火在众人心中燃烧。行刑队拒绝开枪，起义者们拿起武器将军官丢入大海。波将金号被起义者们夺取，并驶入敖德萨石阶进行补给。敖德萨的群众对水兵们的遭遇非常同情，义愤填膺，纷纷声援起义的水兵。而群众的声援却遭致沙皇军队的镇压，一场血腥的屠杀就此展开……

　　维克托是个大男子主义者，在他眼里，妻子艾达所做的一切都是理所应当的。有一天，艾达被辞退了，心中更加无比愤懑，维克托的老奶奶和朋友们于是决定演一出好戏，让维克托反思自己过去的行为。

　　第一次世界大战的末期，美国派兵赴欧洲参战，富家子弟吉姆(约翰·吉尔伯特 饰)也加入了军队，在部队中跟建筑工人出身的斯利姆和酒保布尔很快成为了好友。部队在法国登陆，驻扎在一个小村庄里。在那里，吉姆认识了法国村姑梅丽桑德(蕾妮·阿多莉 饰)，两人很快燃起了爱火。不久，部队奉命开赴前线，吉姆被迫离去。梅丽桑德在军用卡车后紧追不舍，吉姆脱下军靴抛给她，表达自己对她的爱意。　　在前线，炮火密集，吉姆、斯利姆和布尔躲在炮弹坑中十分着急。经过抽签，由斯利姆冲出坑外对付敌人的大炮。炮声停止了，但斯利姆一直没有回来。吉姆十分担心，往敌阵中寻找，果然发现了斯利姆的尸体。　　美军进行大规模反攻，吉姆奋勇作战，结果因腿部中弹而住进野战医院。在那里，他听说梅丽桑德所在的村庄处境十分危险，于是偷偷溜出医院赶到村庄，却发现该地已成一片废墟……

　　继承父亲遗产后于职场中杀伐决断、有所建树的中年女总裁，在爱情面前放弃独善其身的人生信条，同年轻下属走入婚姻殿堂，婚后发现丈夫与妹妹的秘密情事后毅然放手成全——影片的情节，如今看来已是老生常谈，但若论真正让本片熠熠生辉的原因，除了对于“社会性别期待“等经久不衰的议题的讨论，不可忽视的是主角波琳·弗雷德里克(Pauline Frederick)风趣、干练而又感人至深的表演。童年时期父母离异后被母亲抚养长大的波琳，自小便确立了演艺事业的理想，二十岁时便已担任巡回演出剧目的主角，虽然波琳·弗雷德里克在32岁时才出演了自己的银幕处女作——由休·福特和埃德温·鲍特指导的《不朽城》(The Eternal City, 1915)，但她依旧是最早前往好莱坞发展的百老汇明星之一，后来也成为了最早接演“有声片”（波琳曾接受系统的声乐、表演训练）的知名演员之一。事业方面可谓风光的波琳，感情生活却不尽人意，前后共经历了五次颠沛起伏的婚姻，在第五任丈夫（婚后不到一年内）和母亲相继逝世后，波琳也因罹患哮喘而离世。曲折而不平凡的人生经历也或许赋予了她一种表演中的特质，帮助她塑造了一位女性兼具泼辣和敏感的银幕形象。　　本片位列日本《电影旬报》1925年度十佳影片艺术类第六名。

In the end, Poil de Carotte's suffering becomes more than he can bear...　　Review　　Drawing heavily on the poignant novel by Jules Renard on which it is based, Poil de carotte is a modest yet appealing film which has stood the test of time mainly because of the quality of its acting performances and its inherent humanity. It is more memorable than Julien Duvivier's earlier silent version of 1925, also named Poil de Carotte.　　The part of Poil de Carotte was played by 11 year old Robert Lynen, who was alleged to have been discovered whilst walking down the Champs-Elysées in Paris. Lynen is totally captivating and the film made him an instant star, launching what looked like becoming a very promising film career – until he was shot dead whilst fighting against the Germans in 1944.  Harry Baur, a legendary stage and film actor (who also died during World War II, allegedly at the hands of the Gestapo), also turns in a typically fine performance.  The reconciliation between father and son at the end of the film provides its most enduring image, enough to melt the heart of all but the most stoical of spectators.

He falls off a train near a ranch, where he tries his luck as a cowbowy, being in his own way very sucessful. But he shows what he can do when the farm has to bring a 100 head of cattle to the slaughterhouses of Los Angeles to avoid going bankrupt, against the will of his neighbour who wants a better price. After a shoot-out with the neighbour's men he's the only person on a Los Angeles bound train with 1000 cows....

　　Wunder der Schöpfung is an extraordinary, fascinating Kulturfilm trying to explain the whole human knowledge of the 1920s about the world and the universe. 15 special effects experts and 9 cameramen were involved in the production of this film which combines documentary scenes, historical documents, fiction elements, animation scenes and educational impact. It its beautifully colored, using tinting and toning in a very elaborated way. Some visual ideas in the sequences with a space shuttle visiting different planets in the universe seem to have to be the inspiration for Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey.　　In the context of Germany's Kulturfilm phenomenon, Wunder der Schöpfung was among the greatest achievements of the 1920s. The production was constructed, rehearsed, and shot over a period of two and a half years, under the supervision of Hanns Walter Kornblum. The idea to describe the universe and man's place in it well suited UFA's Grossfilm mentality, one year before the Metropolis catastrophe. Hundreds of skilled craftsmen participated in the project, building props and constructing scale models drawn by 15 special effects draughtsmen, while 9 cameramen in separate units worked on the historical, documentary, fiction, animation, and science-fiction sequences. Without star roles or even protagonists, the film's plot is crowded with meticulously structured and skillfully acted single scenes an artful mosaic of small vignettes. No less than four credited university professors ensured the factual background behind the scientific and historical events portrayed.　　The film's symbol of progress and the new scientific era is a spacecraft, travelling through the Milky Way, making all the planets and their inspiring worlds familiar to us, with the extravaganza of their distinctive features. The film's educational intentions, however, become steadily more obscure, humorous, or even campy as this popularization project proceeds. With the excuse of presenting the end of the world a not-so-new concept as a new, undeniably scientific truth, the film veers happily along a new path, displaying detailed apocalyptic scenes of the end of mankind. For today's audiences, this amazing film demonstrates how the universe was comprehended in the 1920s, and how that view was sold to contemporary audiences.
